<h1>Government Companies Exempt from Key Provisions of Companies Act 1956, Including Section 187C and Director Appointment Rules</h1> The Central Government, under section 620(1)(a) of the Companies Act, 1956, has issued a notification stating that certain provisions of the Act do not apply to Government companies. These include Section 187C, which requires disclosure of beneficial interest in shares, and Sections 198, 259, 268, 269, 309, 310, 311, 387, and 388, which relate to the appointment and remuneration of managing or whole-time directors and managers. Additionally, the proviso to sub-section (1) of Section 297, concerning prior approval for contracts between Government companies, is also not applicable.
