India Restricts Tyre Imports: License or Minimum c.i.f. Value Required for Buses, Lorries, and Passenger Vehicles
The Central Government has amended the 'ITC (HS) Classifications of Export and Import Items 1997-2002' under the Foreign Trade Policy. The notification specifies that the import of tyres for buses, lorries, earth-moving equipment, and light commercial vehicles, as well as passenger vehicles including two-wheelers and three-wheelers, is restricted. Import is only allowed with a license or in accordance with a Public Notice unless the cost, insurance, and freight (c.i.f.) value per tyre is at least US $175 for larger vehicles and US $25 for passenger vehicles. These changes are made in the public interest.
