of <h1>Excise Duty Nil for Tea in Containers Over 20kg: Amendment to Notification No. 5/98-C.E. Effective June 24, 1998.</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 5/98-C.E., dated June 2, 1998, under the Central Excise Act, 1944. This amendment, effective from June 24, 1998, introduces a new entry in the notification's table. It specifies that tea packaged in unit containers exceeding 20 kilograms will now have a nil rate of excise duty under tariff item 0902.10. This change is made in the public interest, as per the powers granted by sub-section (1) of section 5A of the Central Excise Act.
