Government Exempts Sports Equipment from Customs Duties for National Sports Federations with Sports Authority Certification
The Central Government exempts specified sports goods, equipment, spares, accessories, and consumables from customs and additional duties under the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, when imported by a National Sports Federation. This exemption applies if the goods are imported for use in national or international championships or competitions, either in India or abroad, and a certificate is issued by the Sports Authority of India. The importer must provide this certificate, detailing the importer's name, address, and the goods' description, quantity, and value, to the Assistant Collector of Customs at the time of importation.
