of <h1>Customs Duty Exemption for Aseptic Machinery in Pharma Industry under Section 25(1) of Customs Act, 1962</h1> The notification, dated March 20, 1990, under Notification No. 96/90-Cus, issued by the Central Government, prescribes a basic customs duty of 35% and exempts any additional duty on aseptic form fill seal machinery imported for use in the pharmaceutical industry. This exemption is enacted under the authority of section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962, and applies to machinery classified under Chapter 84 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, in the interest of public welfare.
