India Cuts Customs Duty on Rayon Grade Wood Pulp to 25% Under Section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962
The Central Government of India, under the authority of section 25(1) of the Customs Act, 1962, has issued Notification No. 282/90-Cus dated December 15, 1990. This notification exempts rayon grade wood pulp, classified under Chapter 47 of the First Schedule to the Customs Tariff Act, 1975, from certain customs duties when imported into India. Specifically, it reduces the customs duty to a rate of 25 percent ad valorem and exempts the product from the entire additional duty as specified under section 3 of the Customs Tariff Act. This exemption is deemed necessary in the public interest.
