Govt. Exempts Specific Medical Equipment Parts from Customs Duty Under Notification No. 17/91-Cus, Subject to Conditions
The Central Government, under the Customs Act, 1962, has issued Notification No. 17/91-Cus dated March 5, 1991, to exempt certain component parts of medical electronic equipment from auxiliary customs duty. This exemption applies to parts not containing specific electronic components, provided they are imported for manufacturing medical electronic equipment under Chapters 85, 90, or 98 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. The exemption is contingent upon proving the necessity of these parts to the Assistant Collector of Customs and is subject to conditions outlined in a previous notification from August 18, 1983, as amended.
