<h1>Govt Exempts Certain Scrap Metals from High Customs Duty Rates Under Customs Act Notification 174/95-Cus</h1> The Central Government, under the Customs Act, 1962, has issued Notification No. 174/95-Cus dated December 29, 1995, exempting certain waste and scrap metals from customs duty rates exceeding specified amounts. Effective January 1, 1996, the notification applies to waste and scrap of primary cells, batteries, and electric accumulators under sub-heading 8548.10 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975. The specified ad valorem rates are 40% for ferrous, 35% for copper, lead, and zinc, 20% for nickel, and 30% for cadmium waste and scrap.
