<h1>New Exchange Rates for Foreign Currencies Set by Central Government Under Customs Act, 1962, Effective September 1, 1996</h1> Notification No. 42/96-Cus. (N.T.), dated August 27, 1996, issued by the Central Government under the Customs Act, 1962, supersedes Notification No. 38/96-Cus. (N.T.) dated July 25, 1996. It sets new exchange rates for converting specified foreign currencies into Indian rupees for export goods, effective September 1, 1996. Schedule I lists individual foreign currencies with their respective rates per unit, while Schedule II provides rates for 100 units of certain currencies. For instance, the U.S. Dollar is set at 35.42 INR per unit, and 100 Japanese Yen at 32.78 INR.
