<h1>Amendment to Excise Notification: Playing Cards Exempt; Electronic Game Machines Face 25% Duty; Others at 15% Duty</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 96/86-C.E., originally issued on February 10, 1986, under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944. This amendment, effective from October 3, 1989, revises the tariff rates for certain goods under Sl. No. 9. Playing cards are now exempt from excise duty. Electronic machines for games of skill or chance, including those used for television and video games, are subject to a 25% ad valorem duty. All other goods not specified in these categories are subject to a 15% ad valorem duty.
