of <h1>Government Exempts Paraxylene from Excise Duty Under Section 5A(1) of Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944</h1> The Central Government, under the authority of Section 5A(1) of the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, has issued Notification No. 188/89-C.E. dated 30-10-1989. This notification exempts paraxylene, classified under Heading No. 29.02 of the Central Excise Tariff Act, 1985, from the entire excise duty specified in the tariff schedule. The exemption is deemed necessary in the public interest.
