Government Amends Notifications on Excise Exemptions; Expands Export Scope to Free Trade and Export Zones
The Central Government has amended five existing notifications related to general exemptions under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, and the Additional Duties of Excise Act, 1957. These amendments modify the conditions under which goods are intended for export. The changes expand the scope to include supplies to units in Free Trade Zones, Export Processing Zones, or 100% export-oriented undertakings for manufacturing goods meant for export. Additionally, a proviso has been added requiring that goods supplied to these units must be transmitted under bond, subject to conditions specified by the relevant Collector of Central Excise.
