of <h1>Amendment to Central Excises Act: New Duty Rules for Electric Generating Sets and Rotary Converters under Chapters 84, 85, 90.</h1> The Central Government has amended Notification No. 46/94-C.E. under the Central Excises and Salt Act, 1944, concerning goods under Chapters 84, 85, and 90. Specifically, for S. No. 42 in the original notification, the amendment introduces new entries for electric generating sets and rotary converters. Diesel-generating sets assembled on-site from duty-paid engines and generators are exempt from duty, while all other goods in this category are subject to a 10% ad valorem duty. This amendment is deemed necessary in the public interest.
