of <h1>Preferential tariff exemptions on listed MERCOSUR imports to India reduce applied customs duty by specified percentages</h1> The notification grants preferential tariff exemptions on specified tariff items imported into India from the MERCOSUR countries listed in Appendix I by reducing a stated percentage of the applied customs duty for each listed item (percentages range mainly 10-20%, with some entries 100%), subject to proof of origin under the relevant determination-of-origin rules; one entry (Sl. No. 14) is limited to a Paraguay-origin tariff rate quota of 30,000 metric tonnes per year. The applied rate of duty is defined to include the standard customs rate plus the Agriculture Infrastructure and Development Cess; the measure took effect 1 June 2009, with subsequent amendments noted.
