of <h1>Government exempts listed defence equipment and parts from customs duty and integrated tax until 1 July 2029, subject to certification</h1> The government exempts specified defence equipment and parts, listed by tariff headings, from customs duty and integrated tax when imported into India by the Ministry of Defence, defence forces, defence PSUs or other designated public entities, subject to certification by an officer not below Joint Secretary confirming quantity, specifications and exclusive defence use and submission of that certificate at import. The Table enumerates covered items (engines, aircraft, vessels, missiles, weapons, sensors, simulators, spares, technical documentation, etc.). The exemption ceases to have effect on or after 1 July 2029.
