of <h1>Telangana exempts state tax on licenses for petroleum and natural gas exploration under GST Act, effective January 2018.</h1> The Government of Telangana, under the Telangana Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, has issued a notification exempting the intra-State supply of services related to the grant of licenses or leases for exploring or mining petroleum crude or natural gas from state tax. This exemption applies to the portion of the state tax levied on the consideration paid to the government as its share of profit petroleum. The notification, effective from January 25, 2018, was issued in the public interest following recommendations from the Council.
