<h1>India Forms Committees to Tackle Decade-Old Court Backlog, Aiming to Withdraw Some Cases and Reduce Arrears.</h1> The Ministry of Corporate Affairs of the Government of India has constituted two Review Committees to address the backlog of court cases over ten years old, aiming for withdrawal of prosecutions where appropriate. This initiative follows a directive from the Minister of Law & Justice to reduce court arrears. Committee A, led by the Director General of Corporate Affairs, will oversee cases from the Southern, North West, Northern, and South East Regions. Committee B, also chaired by the Director General, will handle cases from the Eastern, North East, Western Regions, and the Serious Fraud Investigation Office. The Committees are empowered to consult experts, work weekends, and visit relevant offices, with a report due within a month.
