of <h1>Government revises Schedule VII of Companies Act 2013 to redefine eligible activities for corporate social responsibility effective April 1, 2014</h1> The Central Government amended Schedule VII of the Companies Act, 2013, substituting prior entries with a revised list of activities qualifying as corporate social responsibility, including eradicating hunger, poverty and malnutrition; promoting health care and sanitation; education and vocational skills; gender equality and social inclusion; environmental sustainability and conservation; protection of heritage and culture; support for armed forces veterans and dependents; promotion of sports; contributions to specified national relief funds; funding approved technology incubators in academic institutions; and rural development projects. The amendment takes effect from April 1, 2014.
