      Summary: Companies must map business activities to applicable statutes and implement systems for ongoing adherence. Compliance functions require internal controls, fraud detection, asset safeguards, resource allocation and periodic review to reduce legal and reputational risk. Company secretaries or designated competent officers are responsible for assessing, monitoring and ensuring compliance, supported by systems for risk identification, measurement, mitigation and control. A formal compliance policy should assign a compliance officer, identify compliance areas, provide continuous monitoring, and establish checks, balances and budgeting; a board level compliance committee is desirable.

      Summary: The Reserve Bank cancelled the licence of Vishwakarma Nagari Sahakari Bank Maryadit, Aurangabad, after successive statutory inspections under Section 35 and directions under Section 35A revealed insolvency, sustained defaults in CRR/SLR and CRAR, large and increasing NPAs, managerial and KYC/AML deficiencies, incorrect liability computation and regulatory breaches. The cancellation followed a show cause notice under Section 22 and triggers winding up, prohibition on carrying on banking business and initiation of insured deposit payments under the DICGC scheme subject to its terms.

      Seeks to levy anti-dumping duty on imports of Methylene Chloride, originating in, or exported from the European Union, USA and Korea RP for a period of Six Months
      Summary: Provisional anti-dumping duty is imposed on Dichloromethane (Methylene Chloride) imports from the European Union, United States of America and Korea RP, pursuant to preliminary findings that exports were below normal value causing material injury to domestic industry, with duty rates prescribed by origin, exporter and producer in the notification's table; duties are payable in Indian currency using the exchange rate specified under section 14 of the Customs Act, with the relevant date being presentation of the bill of entry, and shall be levied for a period not exceeding six months unless earlier revoked, amended or superseded.

      Summary: Revision of the Rupee value of the Special Currency Basket for settlement under the Deferred Payment Protocols is notified to Authorised Dealer Category I banks, effective October 17, 2013. AD Category I banks must inform their constituents and implement the revised valuation for bilateral deferred payment settlements. The Directions are issued under FEMA (sections 10(4) and 11(1)) and are without prejudice to other statutory permissions or approvals.
