Summary: Sustained negative emotions such as hatred, jealousy and revenge are portrayed as psychological root causes that can produce physical illnesses; directed prayer therapy-regular, sincere prayers wishing well for others-purges these negative thought patterns and thereby removes the root cause, with multiple case examples of chronic ailments resolving after a period of prayer without medical or surgical intervention, and an emphasis on prevention by replacing ill will with positive thoughts and forgiveness.

Summary: The supplier increased base prices concurrent with a tax-rate reduction so that inclusive selling prices did not fall, violating the anti-profiteering obligation; a regulatory investigation quantified excess collections and requires the supplier to reduce sale prices commensurate with the rate reduction and remit the excess with interest into consumer welfare funds, with monitoring, recovery mechanisms, and penalty exposure for non-compliance.

Summary: Trade tensions and unilateral measures risk negative-sum outcomes; disputes are best managed within a multilateral framework. Exchange rates should equilibrate imbalances where market determination is allowed, while the Reserve Bank intervenes to maintain orderly forex market conditions without targeting specific rates. India focuses on hedging instruments, deeper onshore markets, and a CCIL-hosted anonymous trading platform to ensure transparent pricing for retail users and MSMEs, and urges voluntary adoption of the Global Forex Code to strengthen market integrity.
Summary: The Japan-India Convention, as amended by Protocols and modified by the MLI, allocates taxing rights for income categories, defines residence and key terms, and sets PE rules and profit attribution. The MLI narrows specific activity exemptions, treats commissionnaire and similar arrangements as creating a PE where contracts are habitually concluded or driven, provides a dual resident entity tie breaker that can deny treaty relief if no competent authority agreement is reached, and includes anti abuse and transfer pricing corresponding adjustment mechanisms. The Convention establishes withholding rate ceilings for dividends, interest, royalties and technical fees, mutual agreement and information exchange procedures, and mutual assistance in tax collection.
Summary: Withdrawal of enhanced surcharge applies from FY 2019-20 to tax payable at special rates on capital gains from transfers of equity shares, units of equity oriented funds and business trust units, and to gains on derivatives transferred by FPIs taxed under section 115AD. Transfers of derivatives treated as business income for non-FPI persons remain subject to normal-rate tax and continue to attract the enhanced surcharge on that tax.
