Summary: Summary assessment enables expedited tax determination where the proper officer, on the basis of evidence and with prior approval of an Additional/Joint Commissioner, may issue an assessment order without calling the taxable person for explanations. It is evidence based, applicable irrespective of return filing, and includes a deeming rule making the person in charge of goods the taxable person when the liable person is unascertainable. Erroneous summary orders may be withdrawn and followed by normal reassessment procedures.

Summary: The document emphasizes promotion of an OPEN ecosystem-publicly funded interoperable platforms like UPI and the Account Aggregator network-to enable private entrepreneurs and developers to build composable financial services that advance financial inclusion across Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets. It highlights market-development measures encouraging solution-oriented start-ups, embedded finance via APIs, and platform-led expansion, and stresses governance and access measures to onboard underserved users and women entrepreneurs while leveraging digital public infrastructure for scale.
Summary: India's foreign trade in January 2022 and April-January 2021-22 shows substantial year on year growth in both merchandise and services exports and imports, with merchandise exhibiting a widened negative trade balance and services producing a larger surplus. Sectoral data reveal mixed commodity performance-non petroleum and non gems & jewellery expanded while specific items declined-and import increases concentrated in categories such as silver, fertilizers, electronic goods and petroleum. January services figures are provisional and subject to RBI revision; some historical series have been re pro rata revised using quarterly balance of payments data.
Summary: Cryptocurrencies are decentralized tokens lacking issuer backing, intrinsic value or cash flows and thus do not fit conventional categories of currency, financial asset or commodity. Their anonymity and borderless design enable evasion of KYC and AML/CFT frameworks and create risks to monetary sovereignty, deposit mobilisation, credit creation, foreign exchange management and financial stability. Stablecoins heighten substitutability risk; concentrated ownership increases manipulation potential. Distributed ledger benefits can be realised without native tokens, and policy assessment finds prohibition the most prudent option to protect monetary policy and financial integrity.
Summary: Cancellation of scheduled auction of Government of India dated securities: the Government cancelled the auction of all dated securities scheduled for February 18, 2022 following a review of its cash position and in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India, suspending issuance under the published issuance calendar.
