Amaravati, Jul 1 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh chief commissioner of state tax A Babu on Wednesday said the state has sustained strong momentum in June 2026 with a tax revenue of nearly Rs 5,000 crore, clocking a 16 per cent growth year-on-year compared to June 2025.

According to him, revenue rose by Rs 664 crore compared to June 2025 while net GST grew by 21 percent to Rs 3,144 crore in the same period, logging a rise of Rs 553 crore.

“Andhra Pradesh sustains strong momentum in June with Rs 4,829 crore…Net GST grows 21 percent to Rs 3,144 crore,” he said in an official press release.

Continuing the strong performance seen in April and May, 2026, Babu said the total commercial taxes for the first quarter of FY27 rose to Rs 15,323 crore from Rs 12,480 crore a year earlier, registering a 23 percent growth.

He said this growth was led by Net GST, which increased by 25 percent from nearly Rs 8,000 crore to Rs 10,000 crore, alongside a 21.2 percent rise in VAT on petroleum products.

Building on the six percent cumulative growth achieved in 2025-26, the Commercial Taxes Department has maintained its trajectory of disciplined revenue mobilisation, he said.

The chief commissioner of state tax, net GST collections of Rs 3,144 crore in June 2026 reflects consumption and that the rise is driven by improved tax compliance, stronger enforcement, enhanced revenue monitoring and broader economic activity.

New initiatives introduced during the year — AI-based data analytics, AI-powered scrutiny, AI-based IGST reversals, UPI-based analytics enforcement, DISCOM-linked registration verification and Aadhaar-integrated expansion of Profession Tax — generated significant incremental revenue, strengthening June 2026 collections, said Babu.

Further, he said IGST settlement in June 2026 stood at Rs 1,898 crore, an increase of Rs 533 crore compared to June 2025, representing the largest single-month growth in IGST settlement to date.

Noting that the commercial taxes department has made technology the cornerstone of its enforcement strategy, Babu said deploying AI and data analytics ecosystem has transformed the pace, precision and productivity of tax administration.

He said AI-powered scrutiny, Aadhaar-based authentication, performance dashboards, inter-departmental data sharing, digital payment enablement and predictive analytics have played a key role.

Andhra Pradesh continues to set a benchmark for modern tax administration and is well-positioned for sustained and accelerated revenue growth in 2026-27, underpinning the state's developmental ambitions, Babu added. PTI STH ROH

Tax revenue growth and AI-driven enforcement strengthen revenue mobilisation, with net GST and IGST settlements rising sharply. State tax revenue recorded strong year-on-year growth in June 2026, with total collections rising to nearly Rs 5,000 crore and net GST increasing to Rs 3,144 crore. Commercial taxes for the first quarter of FY27 also increased substantially compared with the corresponding period of the previous year, led by growth in net GST and VAT on petroleum products. The revenue performance was attributed to improved tax compliance, stronger enforcement, enhanced revenue monitoring and broader economic activity.
