India-UK CETA 2026 rollout: duty-free access for 99% Indian exports, lower UK whisky tariffs, expanded services mobility.
The India-UK CETA is expected to be implemented in the first half of 2026, triggering the commencement of its tariff, services, and other market-access commitments upon entry into force. The pact provides duty-free access in the UK for 99% of Indian product lines, covering nearly 100% of trade value, thereby reducing customs duties for specified Indian exports such as textiles, leather, marine products, gems and jewellery, toys, engineering goods, chemicals, and auto components. It also provides for tariff rationalisation for specified UK goods, including whisky, thereby lowering import tariffs as scheduled under the agreement. For services, it contemplates an expanded framework for trade and enhanced mobility for professionals, particularly in IT, enabling greater cross-border services supply. It includes a chapter on women and gender intended to support women-led enterprises and MSMEs.
