Discharge denied, ex-minister and family to face PMLA money laundering trial over undervalued land deal
A special PMLA court in Mumbai rejected discharge applications filed by a former Maharashtra minister, the minister's spouse, and son-in-law in a money laundering case linked to a Pune land deal. The court held there is sufficient prima facie material to proceed to trial and directed their presence for framing of charges on December 18. The proceedings arise from an Anti-Corruption Bureau FIR alleging the accused used the minister's official position to facilitate purchase of a 3-acre Bhosari plot at about Rs 3.75 crore despite a market value of Rs 31.01 crore, constituting criminal misconduct and acquisition of property by unlawful means.
