Land-sharing deal clears way for government twin-tower complex, with tax authority to get 10 lakh sq ft space
Delhi's public works authority and the central tax authority have reached an in-principle understanding to share 4.5 acres of land at ITO for a proposed government twin-tower complex consolidating scattered departmental offices. The tax authority will relinquish part of its existing premises in return for approximately 10 lakh sq ft of built-up space in the new towers. The local government already controls about 13 acres at the site, enabling construction of two towers on either side of a major arterial road, linked by a skywalk. A transaction adviser is expected to be appointed once land arrangements are finalised, and surplus space may be leased to other central entities.
