India, Afghanistan deepen trade ties with new air corridors, joint chamber and mining cooperation after successful ministerial visit
India's foreign ministry reported that an unnamed Afghan minister of industry and commerce led a trade delegation to India from November 19-25 for a series of official meetings, described as successful and productive. The visit focused on strengthening bilateral economic cooperation, including agreements to initiate air freight corridors on Kabul-Delhi and Kabul-Amritsar routes, reactivate a Joint Working Group on Trade, Commerce and Investment, and explore collaboration in mining and other high-value sectors. Both states agreed to post commercial representatives at their respective embassies and to institutionalise a joint chamber of commerce and industry. Discussions also covered long-term supply of essential goods, visa facilitation, trade corridors (air and land), and use of a regional port for transit, with both sides expressing intent to expand trade beyond USD 1 billion.
