India and Afghanistan Boost Trade With Commercial Attachés, Chabahar Route, Easier Visas and Reactivated Air Cargo
India and Afghanistan have agreed to appoint dedicated commercial attachés in each other's embassies to enhance bilateral trade, currently over USD 1 billion, and to revive it beyond the pre-2021 level of USD 1.8 billion. The states will reactivate joint working groups on trade, commerce and investment, operationalise the Chabahar Port route, and simplify customs and banking procedures. Air freight corridors on Kabul-Delhi and Kabul-Amritsar routes have been reactivated, with cargo flights to commence soon. Both sides plan to facilitate business visas, develop ports and dry ports, promote joint investments in key sectors, and strengthen air cargo links and banking channels to deepen economic cooperation.
