Senior IPS officer's note alleges years of caste discrimination and harassment; minister seeks SC/ST Act, abetment charges, arrests and inquiry
A state finance minister reported that the final note of a senior IPS officer, who allegedly died by suicide, details years of caste-based discrimination, targeted mental harassment, public humiliation and malicious anonymous complaints by senior colleagues in a state administration. The minister called the allegations a serious administrative and moral failing by the ruling party, demanded immediate suspension and arrest of officers named in the note, invocation of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and abetment of suicide charges, and sought a time-bound independent high-level judicial inquiry. The opposition party reiterated support for SC/ST communities and urged accountability.
