<h1>Government raises MSPs for six rabi crops; wheat MSP up 6.59% to Rs 2,585 per quintal</h1> The government approved a 6.59% increase in the minimum support price (MSP) for wheat to Rs 2,585 per quintal for the 2026-27 marketing year, raising MSPs for six rabi crops on the recommendation of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices. Absolute increases include safflower +Rs 600, lentil +Rs 300, rapeseed and mustard +Rs 250, gram +Rs 225, barley +Rs 170, and wheat +Rs 160. Barley MSP is now Rs 2,150; gram Rs 5,875; lentil Rs 7,000; rapeseed and mustard Rs 6,200; safflower Rs 6,540. The hike aims to ensure remunerative prices, incentivize crop diversification and align MSPs with production-cost benchmarks.
