Industry forum calls for simplified rules, standardized safety and insurance, and public-private collaboration to scale shared EV mobility
An industry forum hosted a multi-stakeholder conference on shared mobility where fleet operators, OEMs, dealers, insurers and technology providers discussed regulatory, commercial and operational challenges and proposed solutions. Key legal issues identified included regulatory complexity around commercial vehicle identification and compliance, liabilities and road-safety obligations, data/privacy implications of connected-vehicle technologies, and financing/resale risks for electric vehicles affecting consumer protection and contract terms. Panels advocated policy reform to simplify compliance, standardize safety and insurance frameworks, and encourage public-private collaboration to enable scalable EV adoption and contract models such as leasing and subscriptions.
