Indian equity indices fall for fourth day as FIIs sell, banks and autos retreat amid H-1B fee worries
Benchmark Indian equity indices fell for a fourth day as profit-taking in banking, auto and capital goods stocks, continued foreign institutional selling and concerns over higher US H-1B visa fees weighed on sentiment. The 30-stock index closed down about 386 points to ~81,716 and the 50-stock index near 25,057; FIIs sold roughly Rs 3,551 crore the prior session. Midcaps and smallcaps underperformed, with realty and utilities among the weakest sectors while FMCG was the sole gainer. Additional downward pressure came from a softer rupee, firm crude oil, and weak global cues.
