Government pushes organic farming, offers GST cuts, cooperative support, and programs to boost farmer incomes and exports
A union minister urged farmers to reduce synthetic fertiliser and pesticide use and adopt organic farming, stating the government is arranging measures to boost profitability for environment-friendly cultivators and capture greater global organic market share. New GST rates lowering taxes on farming equipment and inputs have taken effect. The government announced cooperative-strengthening initiatives, including a branded organics procurement and marketing cooperative, an export and seed cooperative, computerisation and PACS support, warehouse plans, and pilot 'cooperation among cooperatives' projects being scaled statewide to enhance farmer incomes and market access.
