Agriculture minister seeks Rs 151 crore under RKVY to restore flood-silted farmland and urgent seed, fertiliser, RDF release
The state agriculture minister requested the central government to provide Rs 151 crore under RKVY (DPR component) to restore farmland silted by recent floods that damaged about 5 lakh acres across 2,185 villages, with border districts seeing up to five feet of silt. The state sought Rs 80 crore to supply 2 lakh quintals of certified wheat seed under the seed village programme and Rs 25 lakh for wheat seed under NFSM, plus 637 quintals of mustard seed and 375 quintals of black gram seed. The minister also demanded timely DAP and urea supplies and release of Rs 8,000 crore of RDF and other withheld funds; the union agriculture ministry reportedly pledged support.
