Third-year students made eligible to run for vice-president and joint secretary after NEP programme shifts final-year status
Third-year students at the university can now contest for vice-president and joint secretary in the student union elections after the four-year undergraduate programme under the NEP changed their final-year status; the union constitution bars those appearing in final-year exams from contesting. The election authority clarified nomination and eligibility rules, confirmed candidates for president and secretary remain unrestricted, and set the nomination deadline. Fourth-year students added to the electorate will boost voters by about 50,000 to roughly 280,000. Voting on September 18 requires fee payment and admission by a cutoff date; first-years may use national ID in lieu of college ID. EVMs and ballots will be used; strict anti-defacement measures will apply.
