Government unveils nation-leading electric vehicle policy with incentives, infrastructure funding, targets, and skills and supply-chain support by 2030
A state government announced it has become the first in the country to adopt an electric vehicle policy, establishing an Electric Vehicle Promotion Board to coordinate inter-departmental implementation and resolve issues. The policy offers tax and registration exemptions, financial incentives for charging, swapping and retrofitting infrastructure (specified caps), funding for R&D and skills development, and targets EV registration shares for two-, three-, four-wheelers and buses by 2030. Designated model cities and EV courses in engineering colleges/ITIs are planned, and efforts to expand charging/swapping networks and leverage domestic lithium reserves to strengthen local supply chains are highlighted to advance manufacturing and reduce emissions.
