Vintage vehicle registration now permitted under MoRTH rules, enabling heritage RCs with specified eligibility and usage limits.
Registration in the vintage category is now available in Uttar Pradesh under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 and the MoRTH 2021 notification until a state SOP is finalised. Eligible vehicles are two wheelers (L1/L2) and four wheelers (M1) over fifty years old that remain in original form; tractors and other types are excluded. Owners must apply to local RTO/ARTO, undergo MVI verification with photographic records, and expect processing within sixty days. The RC will restrict daily or commercial use. Fees, ten year RC validity with subsequent renewals, HSRP exemption, and a unique plate format apply as per the central notification.
