National BioE3 Policy launches 21 biomanufacturing biofoundries to boost commercialization, scale-up, supply-chain resilience and bioeconomy growth by 2030
The government has launched a network of advanced biomanufacturing hubs under a new BioE3 Policy to institutionalize infrastructure and support commercialization of bio-based innovations. The initiative creates a national Biofoundry Network of 21 shared 'bio-enabler' facilities offering synthetic biology, AI/ML, omics and scale-up capabilities to startups, SMEs, industry and academia across health, agriculture, food, energy, industrial biotech and climate technologies. The policy aims to accelerate translation from lab to pilot/pre-commercial stages, strengthen supply-chain resilience, foster export and geopolitical objectives, and targets substantial bioeconomy growth by 2030, implicating regulatory oversight, IP management and public-private collaboration.
