External Affairs Minister urges diplomacy, rejects US claim India's Russian crude purchases finance Ukraine war and tariffs
The External Affairs Minister, after a phone call with the Finnish counterpart, said India should not be unfairly targeted over the Ukraine conflict and stressed dialogue and diplomacy. The remarks responded to US allegations that India's purchases of discounted Russian crude support Moscow's war effort, which India rejects. A White House trade adviser recently linked proposed US tariffs on Indian goods to cutting off that alleged financial lifeline to Russia. India noted the US has not similarly criticised China, the largest importer of Russian crude.
