<h1>Government forms 75-member Greater Authority under Section 9(1); Chief Minister ex-officio chair, Chief Commissioner appointed</h1> The state government, exercising powers under Sub-section (1) of Section 9 of the Greater Bangalore Administration Act, 2024 (Karnataka Act No. 36 of 2025), constituted a 75-member Greater Bengaluru Authority to coordinate five newly created city corporations within the former BBMP area; the Chief Minister is designated Ex-officio Chairman and the Deputy Chief Minister Ex-officio Vice-Chairman, with Union and state ministers, MPs, MLAs and the five mayors as Ex-officio members. The government appointed a Chief Commissioner for the Authority with immediate effect; the enabling Act-effective May 15-permits up to seven corporations and fixes 30-month mayoral terms.
