Assembly adjourned twice after Speaker dealt with protests over custodial death probe demand, electoral roll and amendment debate
Ruckus in a state assembly led the Speaker to adjourn proceedings twice after ruling and opposition members entered the Well, protesting respectively a demand for a federal investigation into the custodial death of a recently arrested individual and electoral roll revision and a proposed constitutional amendment barring jailed executives from holding office after 30 days. Two adjournment motions on the death and a land-acquisition project were moved and rejected; the Speaker said debates could be scheduled later. Amid protests, the Finance Minister tabled CAG reports on the integrated financial system and state finances for 2023-24.
