Union Cabinet approves Rs 1,507 crore greenfield Kota-Bundi airport to handle 2 million passengers within 24 months
The Union Cabinet approved a greenfield airport at Kota-Bundi, Rajasthan, at an estimated cost of Rs 1,507 crore, to be funded by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) from internal accruals and completed within 24 months. The state government is providing 440.06 hectares free of cost. The new facility will handle 2 million passengers annually, with a 20,000 sqm terminal, 1,000 peak-hour capacity, a 3,200m x 45m runway suitable for A321-type aircraft, seven apron parking bays and allied infrastructure. The project responds to constraints at the existing, land-limited Kota airport and aims to boost regional connectivity and economic growth.
