Most Companies Face AI Risks but Only 2% Meet Responsible AI Standards, Urging Stronger Governance Now
A recent study of over 1,500 executives across multiple countries reveals that while 86% of enterprises anticipate increased risks from agentic AI, only 2% meet comprehensive responsible AI (RAI) standards. Despite 95% experiencing AI-related incidents causing financial and reputational harm, most companies lack adequate RAI controls. Organizations classified as RAI leaders reported significantly lower losses and incident severity due to robust governance practices, including bias mitigation and incident response plans. Although 78% of executives view RAI as a growth enabler and expect future regulations to encourage AI initiatives, companies generally underinvest in RAI by 30%. The report recommends adopting centralized RAI oversight, embedding governance within AI platforms, and learning from high-maturity organizations to mitigate risks and comply with emerging regulatory frameworks.
