<h1>Regional Bank and Tech Institute Partner for Sustainable Growth of Handloom Sector with Strategic Plan</h1> A regional agricultural development bank is collaborating with a technical institute to draft a strategic plan aimed at the sustainable growth of a northeastern state's handloom sector. The bank has previously supported over 8,000 weavers through skill development, enterprise promotion, marketing infrastructure, and producer organization formation, with grant funding exceeding Rs 5.28 crore. Additional assistance includes facilitating geographical indication registration for handloom products. The state government acknowledged these efforts and highlighted ongoing support measures such as raw material provision, minimum support price schemes, development of integrated handloom parks, and promotion of silk tourism to bolster the sector, which comprises over 12 lakh weavers, predominantly women, and a similar number of handlooms.
