Airlines Cancel 2,458 Flights in H1 2025 Due to Regulations and Geopolitical Issues, Passengers Entitled to Compensation
Airlines cancelled or rescheduled 2,458 flights in the first half of 2025 due to regulatory and geopolitical issues, as reported by the civil aviation ministry. Major carriers accounted for cancellations and rescheduling as follows: one airline with 1,017 flights, another with 662, a third with 427, a fourth with 334, and a fifth with 18 flights affected. Airlines incur additional costs from delays, including fuel, crew overtime, maintenance, airport fees, and rebooking. They are legally obligated to provide refunds or compensation to passengers for cancellations or significant delays. Despite these disruptions, passenger numbers on domestic flights increased by 7.34 percent compared to the same period the previous year.
