The incidents also include three trainee aircraft and four helicopter accidents. The causes are under investigation by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau. Compensation for death or injury to passengers or their next of kin is governed by the Carriage by Air Act, 1972, which incorporates the Montreal Convention, 1999. This legislation holds carriers liable for damages related to death, delay, or loss during international carriage. Since 2015, a total of 18 accidents involving Indian civil registered scheduled aircraft have been reported.
