<h1>Government approves Rs 2,000 crore grant under new scheme to boost cooperative lending capacity</h1> The government approved a grant-in-aid of Rs 2,000 crore to a national cooperative development organization for four years to enhance its lending capacity. This funding will enable the organization to mobilize an additional Rs 20,000 crore for loans, primarily benefiting over 8 lakh cooperatives and approximately 29 crore members, most of whom are farmers. The organization currently maintains a high loan recovery rate of 99.8 percent with zero non-performing assets. The decision was made by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs to support the financial model of the cooperative development entity.
