<h1>India's Q1 Net Direct Tax Collections Surge 38.61% with Significant Growth in Corporate and Personal Income Taxes.</h1> Net direct tax collections for the first quarter of the fiscal year reached Rs.57,373 crore, a 38.61% increase from the previous year. Corporate Taxes grew by 32.65%, while Personal Income Tax, including FBT, STT, and BCTT, rose by 48.84%. Despite larger refund payouts of Rs.11,578 crore, tax growth was significant in regions like Mumbai (40.19%) and Delhi (53.57%). High growth was also noted in Nagpur, Kochi, Bangaluru, and Kolkata. Tax deducted/collected at source increased by about 50%, and self-assessment tax grew by 35%, reflecting improved tax compliance. The cost of tax collection decreased to 0.54%.
