State achieves record 54.55 lakh tourist arrivals in first half of 2025 through diversified offerings
The state recorded a record-breaking 54.55 lakh tourist arrivals in the first half of 2025, comprising 51.84 lakh domestic and 2.71 lakh international visitors. January saw the highest footfall with 10.56 lakh tourists, followed by May with 9.27 lakh visitors. The tourism department attributed this surge to intensified promotional campaigns, participation in travel exhibitions, and innovative marketing under the 'Regenerative Tourism' initiative. The state has diversified beyond beach tourism to offer hinterland trails, heritage walks, spiritual retreats, and wellness experiences. Increased international arrivals, particularly from the Middle East, Europe, and Southeast Asia, resulted from improved flight connectivity and infrastructure upgrades including enhanced airport facilities and new hospitality offerings. The tourism director emphasized that hosting large-scale festivals and sporting events helped attract diverse traveler categories while maintaining service quality despite high volumes.
