State-run bus service launches for first time since independence in remote insurgency-affected village
A state-run bus service has commenced for the first time since independence in a remote village in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district, previously affected by insurgency. The service connects the village to Aheri, benefiting approximately 1,200 residents including students and patients from six surrounding villages. Local residents welcomed the inaugural bus by waving national flags. The village is located in the foothills of a former stronghold area in Bhamragad subdivision. District police facilitated the transportation initiative as part of broader infrastructure development efforts. Similar bus services were previously launched on other routes in January and April 2025. Over the past five years, authorities have constructed 20 roads spanning 420.95 kilometers and 60 bridges in the district under police protection, improving connectivity in the tribal-populated region.
