<h1>BIMSTEC Disaster Management Exercise and Ports Conclave strengthen regional cooperation for crisis preparedness and maritime trade</h1> The country hosted the 4th BIMSTEC Disaster Management Exercise virtually, organized by the National Disaster Management Authority as a tabletop exercise focusing on cyclones and floods. Disaster management professionals from BIMSTEC member states participated to assess regional preparedness, present national disaster management frameworks, engage in simulated scenarios, and share best practices for enhanced coordination. The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized the nation's role as first responder during regional crises and stated the exercise strengthened Bay of Bengal cooperation for disaster preparedness and resilience. Simultaneously, the 2nd BIMSTEC Ports Conclave was held with the theme 'Navigating the Future: Blue Economy, Innovation and Sustainable Partnerships.' The conclave addressed customs harmonization, logistical enhancement, port-linked industrial zones, cruise tourism, digital integration, maritime workforce development, and green shipping to boost intra-regional trade and maritime cooperation under the Neighbourhood First policy.
